Adult Formation Class
March 17, 2019     .     9:00 am - 10:00 am

We hear and say the word “forgiveness” multiple times every Sunday morning at church: in our Creed, our Confession of Sin, and in the Lord’s Prayer. At its heart, The Exchange of Peace is really an embodiment of forgiveness.

There are times when forgiveness is a simple thing and it flows freely from our hearts. However, even though I have experienced the redemptive grace of forgiveness and thought very carefully about its ability to move us from places where we get stuck, there are still moments when forgiveness seems beyond my reach. Why do we sometimes hesitate to forgive? What makes forgiveness possible? What gets in our way?

During this upcoming Lenten season, I invite any and all who are interested in this central tenet of our faith to reflect on, study, and explore with me the practice of forgiveness. We’ll explore some of the myths and challenges around the concept of forgiveness, using my book A Table in the Wilderness: Forty Days of Forgiveness, as a guide.
